Before you share your Story...
Let me tell you mine.
I’m Lisa Moe, AKA Kieran’s and Tristan’s mom. Although I sharpened my photography skills through taking their photos, my love of photography began long before I became a parent. As a child, I found immense joy in looking at old family photo albums at my grandparents' house, where my cousins and I would spend hours giggling at our relatives' goofy old outfits, groaning over our old school photos and bugging the grownups about who did what! For me, photos were a way to understand the past and bond.
When I poured over family photo albums with my cousins — while my aunts, uncles and Mamaw played cards in the kitchen and my Papaw listened to the ball game on his old transistor radio out on the porch — I always felt cozy, like I was getting a really good, warm bear hug. My goal with every photo session is to make my customer feel just like that!
Favorite Family Photo
Of all my photos, I treasure the ones of family the most. It is very difficult to choose, however, one of my favorite photos is my father reading 'Twas the Night Before Christmas to my young children before sending them off to hopefully sleep on Christmas Eve. This photo not only captures a cherished tradition in my family but also conveys the warmth of their bond. It also reminds me of the many years my dad dedicated to sharing his love of learning with thousands of kids through his work as a school principal - a trait I definitely inherited from him and try to instill in my boys.
Favorite Travel Photo
As a military wife, I was lucky to live in the UK for a few years and travel around Europe. I'll never forget the day, I captured Notre Dame Cathedral. This was our first trip to Paris (my college graduation trip). I was so excited to see all of the sites, the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre Museum, Sainte Chapelle, and, of course, the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral. I often look back at this photo remembering that trip. It is even more special now, because I have a photo of the original bell tower that burned a few years back. I remember the beautiful stained glass windows, and the endless climb to the top on the wooden circular staircase. That trip was the one that helped me to fall in love with Paris, Europe, and travel. It sparked my wanderlust inherited from my maternal grandmother.
Favorite Dog Photo
I'm a proud dog mom to my good boy, Marley. While there should probably be a photo of Marley in the dictionary under the word "rambunctious", and I usually have to use my best action shot skills to photograph him, my favorite snap of my beloved Golden retriever shows he can be quite the cuddle-bug. This photo is also a nice reminder to me that teen boys, in fact, still do appreciate the occasional snuggle, even though there are days when they would rather eat a bowl of cold peas for breakfast than hug their mom! I mean, come on, look at this complete overload of cuteness and love!
Favorite Sports Photo
Two boys, five sports and I can't even guess how many miles on my mini-van from driving them everywhere, so it's hard to pick one shot. But if pressed, I'd have to say the afternoon I captured my oldest helping and consoling my youngest after a long, hot, and difficult lacrosse game. While I love the challenge of capturing the perfect action shot in a fast-moving game, I find these kind of private moments between athletes incredibly compelling. It's so tempting to get caught up in the wins and losses, but at the end of the day it's important to me to never forget these hard-working athletes are still our kids and we love them no matter the outcome of their games.
